World Association of Neurologists (WAN)

26.06.2020

The WFN was recently approached by an organisation calling themselves the World Association of Neurologists (WAN).  They were applying to be a WFN member society.

Their application was rejected on the basis of incomplete information they provided as well as a number of discrepancies we discovered during our background checks.  This included their Facebook page that carried the profile name World Neurosurgeon Association, and their website—http://worldneurologist.com/— which appears to be in construction but was prominently displaying the WFN logo together with EFNA and EAN (European Association of Neurologists) logo on the home page; we have asked for the WFN logo to be removed.

The WFN are cautious about the legitimacy of the organisation owing to the nature of its statutes, the irregular correspondence we have received from them, and the discrepancies we came across. We are contacting all WFN member societies in case they have also approached you and possibly intimated that they are in any way associated with the WFN.

To be clear, the WFN are not connected to the following organisations:

Up to their application for WFN membership, the WFN had never heard of these organisations that appear to be connected
.
In the present era there may be similar attempts to misrepresent the WFN. Member Societies are requested to contact the London Office ([email protected]) if there is suspicion or doubt about the validity or authenticity of communications you receive.
